St. John the Baptist Parish Library is a public library offering such items as books, magazines, videocassettes, overhead projectors, current periodicals, microfilm, reference books, archival information, and audiocassettes for check-out or as reference materials.
Evergreen Plantation is the most intact plantation complex in the South with 37 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, including 22 slave cabins. Today, Evergreen Plantation remains a privately owned, working sugar cane plantation. Tours are currently by appointment only.
Premium family entertainment is provided at the Children's Castle. Enjoy music, magic, puppetry, storytelling, dance and opera. The Castle presents shows every Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

Lafreniere Park is a 155-acre park with several amenities including a two-mile jogging trail, glass-enclosed room available for meetings and parties, eight picnic shelters, a 20-acre lagoon, two playgrounds, a carousel, multi-use sports fields, and an 18-hole disc golf course. The park is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
Adventure Quest offers a 6,000 square foot multi-level laser tag arena. Visitors can also enjoy black light Cosmic Golf, bumper cars, live-action sports on a big screen TV, wireless Internet, King Tut's Cafe, and a great arcade area.
Step back into the Antebellum beauty of the old South with a tour of Oak Alley Plantation. A short drive from the city of New Orleans, Oak Alley Plantation gives visitors a glimpse into the life that once was for Louisiana residents. Visitors are invited to tour the mansion and grounds, including the quarter-mile-long picturesque canopy created by the stately branches of the 300-year-old oak trees that gave the former plantation it's name. Guides dressed in period clothing lead informative tours of the mansion. Oak Alley's signature Mint Julep's are available for sale at the mansion, and the Oak Alley Restaurant offers a full menu for hungry visitors.
The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is composed of two parallel bridges and holds the Guinness world record as the longest continuous bridge over water, spanning 23.83 miles (38.35 kilometers). As you're driving over the bridge, you'll be treated to views of of Lake Pontchartrain. This is a toll bridge, so be prepared to pay a toll when you cross in either direction.
The University of New Orleans - Jefferson Campus is located in the city of Metairie. This university offers education to more than 3000 students from the nearby cities. It also offers a number of additional study courses suitable for undergraduates and graduates in various streams like arts, science, business and more. There is also an on- campus booking facility at the “Human Performance Center, ” for various public events.
Thanks to the generous donations from Sydney and Walda Besthoff, New Orleanians and visitors to the city can enjoy art-in-the-park at Besthoff Sculpture Garden. The nearly five acres that make up the sculpture garden in City Park are home to 57 large-scale works of art. The sculptures, situated among the park's large oaks and Southern magnolias, vary greatly in style and represent a range of classic and modern artists. In 1859, when construction of Nottoway Plantation was completed, the sprawling mansion was one of the most regal of its time. Today, visitors have the opportunity to step into the grand lifestyle of the old South with guided tours of the property. One of the few plantations that survived the Civil War, this antebellum mansion has been fully restored to capture the opulent lifestyle of the original owners. In addition to guided tours, Nottoway Plantation features the Nottoway Museum and bed and breakfast accommodations. - Bethany Culp
This Greek Revival mansion is home to original English and American antiques and eight acres of formal gardens and decorative fountains. Although florals vary with the seasons, visitors can count on a spectacular display year-round. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Longue Vue House & Gardens features ever-changing exhibits. A gift shop sells horticulture and decorative items, children's gifts and reproductions from the Longue Vue Collection.
