Brothers Sean and Ryan Spellman bounced around a lot before eventually landing in their current home of Portland, Oregon. Uprooting from their birthplace in New London, Connecticut, the two lived in Little Rock, Arkansas and throughout California before finally settling on Portland and devoting their full-attention to their alternative country band, Quiet Life. The brothers' travels and life on the road clearly have influenced Quiet Life's music, which is full of echoes of Neil Young, The Band, Bob Dylan and lots of classic country, folk and Americana. Rock and roll tinges and a knowledge of the modern indie scene puts the band in territory shared by current genre revivalists, particularly the sound of Texas alt-country giants, The Old 97s. Quiet Life has now expanded to a five-piece band and continues to perform its rollicking rehash of American genre standards throughout Portland and occasionally beyond.
