»Hadley Pottery Company

Isn't it a shame that some beautiful dishes never get used? Never intended for holding a scoop of mashed potatoes or slice of meatloaf, they sit for years atop a sideboard, gathering dust, or hang in little metal hooks specifically designed to support plates no one uses. The Hadley Pottery Company blurs the boundaries between aesthetic and practical with its renown pottery that can indeed be used for food and drinks. In 1940, artist Mary Alice Hadley began the stoneware line that soon developed into a worldwide pottery sensation. Today, her original designs are still used, and thanks to the process of "underglaze decoration," are highly durable.
