As a part of the US Army post of Fort Benning, one may associate the Wetherby Field with scenes of orderly military parades and other ceremonies; but, in fact, it is much more. The quite large field is the venue for various entertaining and fun events, including concerts and Fort Benning MWR's Oktoberfest. A National Historic Landmark since 1975, this spectacular, red plush-and-gilt theater was built by Francis Joseph Springer, an immigrant from Alsace, and was opened in 1871. This opera house operates today as a working theater which presents year-round entertainment on two stages, as well as offers formal theater training and educational programming.
Rankin Gardens and Atrium are two separate event venues which are used for hosting large scale events. The garden is a sprawling interior courtyard space, ideal for weddings and other private celebration. Spread across 5000 square feet (465 square meters), the courtyard has a small elevated stage on one end. Garrett-Bullock House is located in Columbus, Georgia. The 1881-mansion was built in the Queen Anne style of architecture by Confederate Colonel Joseph S. Garrett. The house is rented out for use for wedding ceremonies and private parties. It got listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 29, 1980.
