His on-going and ever-changing project Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band, played its first performance in 1989 with Starr on drums and lead vocals. In addition to his work on the Beatles' films, he took on acting roles and appeared in several movies including Martin Scorsese's The Last Waltz.
