»David Bazan + Passenger String Quartet

    October 21, 2014 8:00 PM

One of the forerunners of the now popular indie folk-rock scene, Seattle based David Bazan was a member of Headphones, Pedro the Lion and The Undertow Orchestra before officially branching out solo in 2006. With his quiet, emotive, acoustic folk-rock and with tours where Bazan recruits friends like Ben Gibbard (of Deathcab for Cutie) and Jonathan Rice to play with him, Bazan is a well-respected member of his genre. While Bazan prefers to avoid the limelight and has thus maintained a low profile, unlike former collaborators Gibbard and Nick Peterson (of Fleet Foxes), he is still a legend whose live act is not to be missed.

    »Widespread Panic

    October 21, 2014 7:30 PM

With a reputation as one of the most powerful and talented jam bands on the touring circuit, Widespread Panic has no doubt accomplished what it set out to do when it formed in 1986 in Athens, Georgia. But the road constantly beckons these musical war birds to do what they do best--play live and create heady, instrumental jams. The band's shows, chock full of extended improvisational solos and giant Southern rock riffs, are stuff of folklore and are responsible for legions of fans following the band around the country.

    »The Acacia Strain

    October 21, 2014 7:30 PM

The Acacia Strain is an American metal band that formed in Massachusetts in 2001. Though the group tries to eschew genre tags by simply describing itself as "heavy," its music has many ties to the metal sub-genre of death core--a pummeling rhythm section full of double bass drumming, three electric guitars pounding out death metal riffs and lyrical themes that deride modern society and America's over-fascination with technology. The Acacia Strain dropped its debut album ...And Life Is Very Long, in 2002 and has since found crossover success with the punk rock crowd, particularly after appearing on the 2011 lineup of the Vans Warped Tour.

    »Meat Puppets and Cass McCombs

    October 21, 2014 9:00 PM

Fusing classic rock, punk and country folk, hardcore band the Meat Puppets was the longest-lasting of all the bands on the 1980s seminal hardcore label SST. Centered around the duo of Curt and Cris Kirkwood, the Meat Puppets played music that was always smart, tuneful and true to its hard rock roots--even when the band experienced its brief flirtation with the mainstream in the early 1990s, largely a result of its friendship with grunge kingpins, Nirvana.
